Okay, so the title is a little misleading... There aren't any actual explosions, but we are having a great time beginning our chemistry unit! We have been practicing our observation skills and discussing the properties of chemicals. On Monday we will begin investigating 5 mystery chemicals. Using our observation skills and the scientific process we will attempt to determine what each chemical is based on reactions with other chemicals. Even though the kids are hoping for an explosion, I can say the chemical reactions will be pretty neat and completely safe!
Welcome back! It is officially 2015 and we are halfway through the 3rd grade! While this week has been crazy and cold, we have been working hard the last few days getting back to work. We are reviewing our procedures and expectations as well as beginning new units in reading, math and science. This week, we began our Measurement unit which has involved lots of hands on experience measuring our classroom and all things in it!
Next week we will begin Theme 4 in reading with the story Lon Po Po, a red riding hood story. This is Lesson 16 in our practice books. Please let me know if you have any questions or comments! Stay warm!
Happy Holidays from these wonderful 3rd graders! We had a blast at our special snack yesterday. Unfortunately, there was so much going on that I didn't take any pictures during the party! Luckily we took a few before the fun began
We've only got two weeks until the Winter break and the new semester will begin when we return jn 2015. I can't believe our year is half way done already! We are finishing up our unit on Plant growth and development, as well as our last Reading lesson of the first semester. Next year, 2015, we will have a new science unit and we will switch to our other set of reading books.
Tomorrow, there will be notes going home about the holiday party. It will be on Wednesday, December 17th around 1:00. Also, don't forget that the 18th and 19th are half days so the kiddos will be coming home early.
